Opening the Eyes of Clinical Practice with Internal Medicine Ultrasound
August 24, 2025
I held a lecture for the 'Internal Medicine Ultrasound Introductory Package' at the Alpinion HQ in Magok.
The event was hosted by HAVEST, and Alpinion provided support with the equipment and venue.
The course combined online lectures for basic theory with an in-person, hands-on workshop covering Upper Abdomen ultrasound.
In this lecture, I emphasized the perspective of "Ultrasound for the Internist."
The essence of internal medicine is to "explore the inner side of diseases" to arrive at a "Diagnosis."
In the diagnostic data collection process, patient history-taking accounts for over 70%, followed by physical exams and blood tests.
Ultrasound is a powerful tool that assists this entire process.
It has a significant advantage in Korean Medicine practice because it can capture "dynamic life phenomena," such as blood flow, in real-time.
Ultimately, internal medicine ultrasound is not just image interpretation (Radiology); it is a process of completing the image based on the patient's medical history and examination.
Dr. Kim Jun-seok and Dr. Jang Jun-young also participated as education committee members.
Thank you to all who dedicated their valuable time to attend!
